70m Al Saadiyat Landing Craft

The Al Saadiyat (L72) is a robust, steel-hulled 70-meter military landing craft built in 2021 by Al Fattan Ship Industry in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Registered in Abu Dhabi under the U.A.E. flag and classified under Tasneef Naval Class with Unrestricted Navigation notation, the vessel is tailored for demanding naval transport and combat support missions. It features an overall length of 70 meters, a moulded breadth of 14 meters, a depth of 3.65 meters, and a maximum draft of 2.70 meters. Engine performance is driven by two Caterpillar C32 main engines producing 950 hp at 1600 rpm, achieving an operational speed of 10 knots. For electrical auxiliary power, it relies on three 410 kW Caterpillar C18 generator sets alongside an 82 kW emergency generator. Designed to transfer heavy tactical loads, the open main deck boasts a high deck strength of 7 tonnes per square meter, allowing it to transport troops, heavy armored vehicles, and combat equipment effectively. Tank capacities are substantial to support extended operations, including 370.9 tonnes of fresh water, 225.6 tonnes of fuel oil storage, 244 tonnes of fuel oil cargo, and 173.8 tonnes of ballast water.

Beyond its primary transport capabilities, the vessel is comprehensively configured to support a full complement of 91 personnel, comprising 30 crew members, 7 officers, and 54 troops. Onboard accommodation spaces include air-conditioned cabins, dedicated officers' and crew mess rooms, a modern stainless-steel galley, a fully equipped radio room, and a dedicated UAV room. Operational command is centered in a state-of-the-art wheelhouse featuring ergonomic Cleemann chair systems, an Electronic Chart Display (ECDIS) integrated with DGPS, and integrated fire control and gunnery consoles. Technical support spaces below deck encompass an Engine Control Room with redundant PLC alarm monitoring cabinets, a dedicated steering gear room with energy-efficient electronic steering, an instrumentation room for combat systems, and a high-capacity pump room. Fitted with active combat systems, launcher stations, a rescue boat with davit, and multiple life rafts, the Al Saadiyat provides a versatile platform for modern amphibious and logistics operations.
